Weekly Newsletter - Friday 6th October

Dear Parents and Carers,


Diary Dates
On Tuesday 10th October Mulberry spinebreaker are visiting HIlldene library with spinebreakers from Mead primary. At 2.30pm there is a meeting for parents regarding the Mersea residential trip.
Elm class are sharing their work during assembly on Wednesday 11th morning. We hope that lots of parents will be able to join us on this occasion. Pupils from years 4-5 will take part in a STEAM powered workshop at Mead primary school.
On Thursday 12th pupils in years 3&4 will be watching a road safety theatre production and year 2 are participating in a workshop on The Great Fire of London.
To finish the week off Reception pupils will be investigating bugs with the Bug Man on Friday morning and it’s the first of the 3 book sales after school.


Parents Evening
We are looking forward to welcoming all parents on Monday 16th & Tuesday 17th October for parent consultation meetings. You will have the opportunity to meet your child’s new class teacher and find out how they have settled so far this year. The teachers will also explain the expectations for the end of the year your child. We will not be sending out paper copies of the booking forms again this year, please look out for the blog post and the google forms which will be posted so that you can book your appointment.


Book Fair
This year our older spinebreakers are taking over the book fair and running the bookfair themselves. Please support the pupils by coming along and helping them to raise money to buy books for their reading development in school.  
The book fair will run from Friday 13th - Tuesday 17th October after school and will be in the hall. The first 15 people to purchase books from the fair will receive a goodie bag and one of those goodie bag contains a golden ticket worth £15. The lucky winner will be able to spend their voucher at the bookfair on Monday and Tuesday. All pupils are also invited to design a poster advertising the book fair. This must be returned to Mrs McFarlane in the library by Wednesday 11th October and one lucky winner will receive a £10 voucher to spend on books at the fair. School Photograph
Kittle the school photographer will be in school on Tuesday 17th October for individual photographs. Make sure that your hair is brushed and teeth are clean then you will be ready for your close up.


LFPA - Firework Night Extravaganza
The Learning Federation Parents’ Association will be hosting the Harold Hill Firework Extravaganza on Monday​ ​6th November​ ​2017​, 5.30pm-7.30pm​ at Broadford​ ​Primary​ ​School​. Tickets must be purchased in advance and will be sold on a first come first serve basis. Tickets will not be available on the night of the event. Tickets are priced at £3 for children under 14 and £5 for adults.
Please complete the form available and place into a clearly labelled envelope along with payment and return to either school.
We look forward to seeing many of you there on the night.
Please note: Tickets only available at the discounted rate until Friday 13th October.

Havering Catering Services
Week beginning 9th October is week 1 on the Havering Catering Services menu. The price of a meal at lunchtime is £2.20.

Congratulations to Cedar class and Birch class who top the attendance table this week with fantastic attendance percentages. It is great to see that overall we are keeping above the target of 96%.
