Friday 18th October, 2019 Weekly Newsletter

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank You
Thank you all so much for your kind words, best wishes and generous gifts. I will miss being at Broadford every day but I am looking forward to this next stage and spending time with my family. I will leave the education of your children in the very capable hands of Mr McLucas and the school leadership team, I know they will all do a wonderful job. I will be returning later in the school year and I am looking forward to seeing the progress of all our pupils at Broadford. 
Thank you once again for your continued support. 

Dairy Dates - Monday 28th October - Friday 1st November  
On Monday we return to school after half term. 
On Tuesday in the afternoon year 6 pupils have their height and weight check ups and music lessons continue. 
On Wednesday Redwood class from year 5 are going to visit the Mosque and LAMDA lessons continue in the afternoon. 
On Thursday morning we invite all parents and carers of pupils in year 5 to their stay & learn session at 9.00 am and year 1 are going to forest schools in the afternoon. 

Stay & Learn Sessions
Thursday 31st October - year 5 focus Reading @ 9.00 am. We look forward to welcoming you on this day. 

Parents’ Evening
Thank you to all of the parents who attended parents evening, we hope that you found the pupil passports informative and enjoyed the opportunity to meet the teachers. 

Back to School 
We return to school for the second half of the autumn term on Monday 28th  October with breakfast club starting at at 7.45 am and for all other pupils the doors will be open at 8.30 am. After school clubs will commence on the first day back as usual. 

Year 6 Parents - 31st October 2019
The deadline for applying for secondary school places is fast approaching. Please ensure that you have registered for an online account and applied for a secondary place before this date. If you require any assistance please come into the office and see Mrs Taylor. 

Pupil Premium 
For every pupil who is eligible for Free School Meals, our school receives funding of £1,300 per year for six years. Even KS1 children who receive Universal Free School Meals may still be eligible for this funding. If your child is eligible for this funding you would also receive:

  • £40 voucher per child, per year to assist with the cost of school uniform redeemable at Premier Schoolwear.
  • Assistance with contributions towards school trips and residential visits.
  • After school clubs can continue to be free of charge.  

If you are in receipt of one of the following you are eligible.  Please visit the school office and see Mrs. Taylor.

  • Income Support
  • Income based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income related employment and support allowance
  • Support under part VI of the Immigration & Asylum Act 1999
  • Child Tax Credit ( provided you are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and whose annual income (as assessed by the Revenue and Customs) does not exceed £16,190

Havering Catering Services
Week beginning 28th October  is week 2 on the Havering catering services menu. All meals are served with unlimited salad and vegetables and cost £2.25. 
Please be reminded to top up your child’s catering account as we cannot provide dinners for pupils whose accounts exceed a debt of £10.

KS1: 95%         KS2: 96% Overall:  95.5%
Congratulations to  Rowan and Ash who top the attendance table this week.  Congratulations and well done to the whole school for keeping our overall attendance close to our target of 95.5% for the first half of the autumn term. Long may it continue. 
I wonder which class currently top of the attendance leaderboard and in the running to win the end of term attendance prize.
