Weekly Newsletter - Friday 4th October

Dear Parents and Carers,

Dairy Dates - Monday 7th October - Friday 11th October
On Monday morning, Reception pupils have a very exciting animal experience in school. In the afternoon year 5 are participating in a circus workshop and year 3 continue with their 101 Dalmatians creative sessions.
On Tuesday morning we invite all parents and carers of pupils in year 2 in school for their stay & learn session. Front Row music lessons continue in the afternoon. After school their is a netball match against Drapers’ Pyrgo and year 5 parents are invited to the first Mersea residential meeting.
On Wednesday we are looking forward to some very special visitors in school as we celebrate the opening of our new building and facilities. LAMDA lessons continue in the afternoon.
Cedar class are visiting MOD pizza in Romford on Thursday morning, yum! The year 2 spinebreakers are watching the Paddington Bear film for their book project. Front Row music lessons and Forest schools for year 1 continue in the afternoon. We look forward to welcoming Reception parents & carers on Thursday afternoon for their stay & learn session.
We finish the week with a Fire of LOndon workshop for year 2 pupils to enjoy and the first of our Scholastic book fairs.

Stay and Learn Sessions 
We look forward to welcoming parents and carers from the following year groups for this term’s stay and learn sessions;
Tuesday 8th October - Year 2 @ 9.00am with a focus of Reading.
Thursday 10th October - Reception @ 2.00pm with a focus of Phonics.

Scholastic Autumn Book Fair 
The Book Fair will be after school on Friday 11th and Monday 14th October in the new hall. Every pupil who purchases a book will be entered into a raffle where they could win themselves more fabulous reading material!

Year 6 Parents - 31st October 2019
The deadline for applying for secondary school places is fast approaching. Please ensure that you have registered for an online account and applied for a secondary place before this date. If you require any assistance please come into the office and see Mrs Taylor.

County Lines Talk - Tuesday 15th October - Time TBC
We are hosting a presentation evening from Peter Wilson from the Metropolitan Police (Trident), regarding Child Criminal Exploitations and County Lines within Havering. This important information will assist with equipping members of the public and parents to be vigilant in supporting all children / young people regardless as to where they live. These talks have been very well received and are highly recommended for parents.

Dental Treatment - Parents of Pupils in Reception and Year 1
The dental health team are visiting on Friday 6th December to start the fluoride varnish programme with pupils who are in Reception and Year 1. All parents would have received a letter containing all of the relevant information. If you would like your child to take part in this program please return the consent forms to the school office by Friday 11th October.

Pupil Premium
For every pupil who is eligible for Free School Meals, our school receives funding of £1,300 per year for six years. Even KS1 children who receive Universal Free School Meals may still be eligible for this funding. If your child is eligible for this funding you would also receive:
  • £40 voucher per child, per year to assist with the cost of school uniform redeemable at Premier Schoolwear.
  • Assistance with contributions towards school trips and residential visits.
  • After school clubs can continue to be free of charge.
If you are in receipt of one of the following you are eligible. Please visit the school office and see Mrs. Taylor.
  • Income Support
  • Income based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income related employment and support allowance
  • Support under part VI of the Immigration & Asylum Act 1999
  • Child Tax Credit ( provided you are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and whose annual income (as assessed by the Revenue and Customs) does not exceed £16,190
Autumn Term Parent Consultation Evening - Monday 14th & Tuesday 15th October
We are looking forward to welcoming all parents on Monday 14th & Tuesday 15th October for parent consultation meetings. You will have the opportunity to meet your child’s new class teacher and find out how they have settled so far this year. The teachers will also explain the expectations for the end of the year your child. Your appointment time will be sent home on Monday 7th October.

School Photographer
Our new school photographer Carmel Jones will be in school on Wednesday 16th October for individual photographs. Make sure that your hair is brushed and teeth are clean you'll be ready for your close up.

Havering Catering Services
Week beginning Monday 7th October is week 3 on the Havering catering services menu. All meals are served with unlimited salad and vegetables and cost £2.25.
Please be reminded to top up your child’s catering account as we cannot provide dinners for pupils whose accounts exceed a debt of £10.

Congratulations to Cedar and Rowan who top the attendance table this week. Well done to everyone for keeping our attendance at 96%, let’s make sure that we hit our target every week.
