Dear Parents and Carers,
Next week the children will be continuing to practice for their Christmas performances in between their usual learning and lessons. They will have a very busy week but you will appreciate all of their hard work the week after! Year group leaders and class teachers will be sending home information regarding tickets and performances today.
Fundraising
After a very successful fundraising meeting with our parents and carers, we are delighted to be able to share with you our first fundraising event. During the week beginning the 6th December, we will be having Christmas movie nights. Information for this event has been sent via email, through our website and social media pages. We would like to say thank you to all the parents who came to the meeting and shared some brilliant ideas. We now have several fundraising events planned throughout the year.
Children in Need
Thank you to everyone for their generosity last week during our Children in Need event. Overall we raised £429.11. Well done team Broadford. I am thrilled to announce that Alder, Mulberry and Elm won the Pudsey classroom door decoration competition. Well done to Ameera, Ksenija and Asad who won the tote bag competition and will have their bag designs printed onto a canvas tote bag! Congratulations to all.
S.M.I.L.E Christmas Appeal
We were absolutely thrilled with the response to the S.M.I.L.E Christmas appeal. You donated over 75 Christmas shoe boxes which will go towards putting a smile on someone's face this Christmas day. Please see below the dates for all of our Christmas events throughout December.
Year group leaders and class teachers will be sending home further information today.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Christmas performances.
Christmas Dinner
Week beginning 13th December pupils have the opportunity to enjoy Christmas dinner in school. This will be served to different year groups on different days. This is so that pupils can eat their Christmas dinner in the hall and enjoy a festive experience. Due to the fact that the kitchen will be cooking over 200 Christmas dinners daily there will be a different menu for the rest of the school on their non Christmas dinner day please see below.
Christmas dinner will be roast turkey with the trimmings and there is also a vegetarian option which is cranberry, butternut squash and vegetarian sausage puff.
Tuesday 14th - Nursery pupils (30 hours), reception and year 6.
Wednesday 15th - Years 2,3 & 4
Thursday 16th - Years 1 & 5
Children can wear Christmas jumpers and headwear on their Christmas dinner day if they would like to.
So that the school cook has an idea of numbers for each sitting please indicate on the google form if your child would like Turkey or the vegetarian option by the end of the school day today. If your child is not eating Christmas dinner then there is no need to complete the form.
On your child's non Christmas dinner day the kitchen will be preparing a cold service consisting of tuna, cheese or ham baguettes. These will be ordered via sQuid as normal.
If your child is choosing to have school dinner please make sure that their sQuid account is topped up, the cost of a Christmas dinner is £2.30. The universal free school meal offer is still applicable for our KS1/EYFS pupils.
Holiday Meal Scheme
Through the Government’s Household Support Fund, the Council has allocated funding to continue the School Holiday Meal Scheme for December, which will allow eligible families to receive £30 per child to cover the two-week Christmas school break.
The scheme provides funds to ensure that eligible families can purchase food over the holidays to replace the meals a child would have received during a school day.
The application window will open for a short period from Friday 26 November at 9am, closing on Friday 3 December at 5pm.
Families who have previously received payment via the scheme do not need to reapply and will automatically receive the funds into their nominated bank by week commencing Monday 20 December.
Details about the scheme have been updated on the Council’s website, with the application form going live from Friday 26 November.
Havering Catering Services
Week beginning 29th November is week 2 on the Havering catering services menu. All meals are served with unlimited salad and vegetables and cost £2.30.
Please be reminded that your child’s sQuid account should be topped up at all times. We cannot provide dinners for pupils whose account exceeds a debt of £10. If you are experiencing difficulties please contact Mrs West in the school office who will be able to provide you with support and assistance.
