As we are well aware the temperatures are set to rise over the next few days. We are following the Local Authority heatwave plan and school will be open during the normal times.
We will ensure that;
- all windows and doors are open and blinds are lowered to ensure rooms are as cool as possible,
- pupils have access to water at all times,
- children have a longer morning break and will stay out of the sun for the rest of the day,
- children will not be in the sun between 12 - 3pm, during lunchtime the hottest part of the day, there will be films and quiet games available in the classrooms for the pupils,
- children do not take part in physical activity,
- the school kitchen will be serving a cold lunch of baguettes, salad and ice cream on Monday and Tuesday so that ovens do not need to be used. This will keep the temperature in the building as low as possible.
Children can wear school PE kits over the next week, navy shorts and white t-shirts (with or without the logo). Please ensure that;
- children have sunscreen applied before leaving the house,
- pupils bring a water bottle to school,
- your child wears a sunhat to and from school.
Many thanks.
