Part 1 Broadford News
Please be reminded that school is closed on Monday 1st May for May Day (bank holiday),weI hope you enjoy the extended weekend. Industrial action is planned on Tuesday 2nd May. You will have received an email regarding the classes that will remain open on this day. If anything changes we will of course let you know asap.
Local Elections
I believe there is some confusion regarding some residents who believe there is an election in Havering next week on Thursday 4th May 2023. This confusion may have been caused by national campaigns for the elections in the rest of England. As a London Borough, we are on a different local election timetable and our next scheduled elections will be The Mayor of London and London Assembly elections on Thursday 2nd May 2024.
Therefore, school is open as usual next Thursday.
Clubs
After school clubs start next week. Please collect your child from the identified door at 4.15 pm.
Summer Fete
Save the date - we are hosting our summer fete on Saturday 8th July. We hope to see as many of you there as possible.
Road Safety Competition
We were extremely fortunate to have a road safety assembly last week which was presented by one of our parents Emily Caitlin. Emily talked to the children about the dangers of crossing the road in front of or behind buses and the important message to stop, look, listen and think before crossing any road. Some of your children may be reminding you to not stop or park on the zig zags as they also covered this during the assembly.
We are inviting all pupils to enter a competition to design a road safety poster which could be transferred into a banner for our school gates to educate us all on the importance of safe road travel within our local community.
All entries to be received in school by Friday 5th May.
Coronation Celebrations!
As we are all aware, next month is the coronation of King Charles III. We will, of course, be having some celebrations in school.
Crowns, cakes and parties!
Friday 5th May
On Friday 5th May we will have our Coronation celebrations in school. All pupils are invited to make a Crown or wear a tiara for the day and wear your finest red, white and blue fit for a King. . The pupils will engage themselves in coronation activities and an afternoon tea party where there will of course be plenty of cake!
Part of the King’s celebrations have a volunteering theme with one of the days over the weekend being dedicated to “The Big Help Out”.
The Big Help Out will highlight the positive impact volunteering has on communities across the nation. In tribute to His Majesty The King's public service, The Big Help Out will encourage people to try volunteering for themselves and join the work being undertaken to support their local areas. The aim of The Big Help Out is to use volunteering to bring communities together and create a lasting volunteering legacy from the Coronation Weekend.
Every year group at Broadford is going to complete a volunteering project over the next half term.
There may be visits to the care home, litter picking within the local community or planting some plants to enhance our environment. If you have any ideas for volunteering projects you would like to see our pupils involved in or would like to get involved yourself, please comment on this post.
Watch out to see what our amazing pupils get up to over the next few weeks to make our fabulous local community a better place for us all.
Eid day Collections
Your generous donations during our Eid day celebrations raised a fantastic £125.05. This will go towards our annual fundraising total.
