Weekly Newsletters - Friday 20th June, 2025

Headteacher: Mrs L Nicholls

Dear Parents and Carers,

Part 1 Broadford News

Sports Afternoon
Once again, thank you to all of the parents who attended sports day to support the pupils. They all did a brilliant job and a good time was had by all. Thanks goes to all of the staff in school who organised the event and prepared the pupils before the big day.

Scooters and Bikes
Just a reminder that all pupils must dismount their bikes and scooters before entering the school gates. The front of the school is a downward slope and we do not want anyone going too fast and having an accident.
I would also like to remind all parents that adult bikes and scooters must not be used at the end of the day. There are lots of pupils and younger siblings around and again we do want there to be any accidents. We must set the example for our children and model the behaviour that we want to see from them.

Many thanks.

Gallows Corner
As we are all aware road works continue around Gallows Corner and from Monday 23rd the roundabout will be closed. This will obviously cause a lot of disruption and additional traffic to the surrounding areas. School times will remain the same and pupils are still expected to arrive before 8.45 am and will be dismissed at 3.15 pm. With over 700 pupils in our school we are unable to facilitate different arrangements for pupils due to the traffic works. Please ensure that you have considered different routes and or times for your morning and afternoon journeys.

Tesco Stronger Starts - Vote Broadford EYFS!

There is only one week left to vote for the Broadford EYFS project ‘Let’s Grow Together’ for the Tesco Stronger Starts program grant.

The project is called 'Let's Grow Broadford' The initiative aims to enhance our youngest children's understanding of the world around them, through interactive learning and hands-on experiences in growing fruits and vegetables.

The project with the highest number of votes across the region will receive £1,500 (or the amount that was requested up to this value), the second placed project £1,000 (or the amount that was requested up to this value), and the third placed project £500.

Voting by 30th June!

Please support us by voting with tokens and spreading the word to family and friends. To vote, you will need to make a purchase within a store of any value, you will receive one token per transaction.

Transition
The preparation for moving on has started! This week the children have been inquisitive and have come up with questions that they want to know the answers to regarding the next year group. Next the pupils will start to answer those questions and elect a spokesperson to give feedback on behalf of the class.

Summer Sun

The weather has been glorious this week and hopefully it will last. I would like to ask all parents to ensure that children have sun protection applied before they arrive at school. . It is also recommended that children bring caps/hats into school to wear during outdoor times. We will ensure that pupils have access to plenty of water throughout the day to keep them fully hydrated. Thank you for your support and co-operation in this matter.

The Colour Run - Thursday 17th July

We’re thrilled to announce that Broadford Primary will be hosting a Colour Run on Thursday 17th July. This is a fun, vibrant event designed to celebrate our pupils’ attendance and promote fitness, school spirit, and plenty of smiles!

What is a Colour Run?

A Colour Run is a non-competitive event where children can walk, jog, or run through a course while being gently sprinkled with coloured powder at various stations. It’s all about fun and participation—there’s no racing or timing involved.

Is it safe?

Yes! The coloured powder is made from cornstarch and food-grade dyes. It’s non-toxic, biodegradable, and safe for skin and clothing. We’ll also be taking steps to protect pupils’ eyes, and volunteers will apply the powder with care.

How to Prepare:

  • Wear white: So the colours really pop!

  • Bring sunglasses: To help protect eyes.

  • Pack a towel or change of top: For a quick clean-up before heading home.

Permission Required

To ensure that all pupils can take part safely, we require a signed waiver from a parent or guardian. This confirms that you understand the nature of the event and grant permission for your child to participate.

Please complete and return the waiver by Monday, 7th July.

Waiver

We’re really looking forward to this exciting event and can’t wait to see our pupils enjoying such a colourful day!

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Mrs. Stanley. We're here to ensure this is a safe and joyful experience for every child.

The colour run is free for all pupils. However, on the day we are running a lucky bucket competition to win a colour hamper full of activities and treats for the summer holidays. If your child would like to be in with a chance of winning their year group colour hamper please send in £1 to ensure that their name is included in the lucky bucket draw after the colour run!

Summer Colour Raffle
As our summer theme is colour! We have a fantastic colourful raffle to raise funds for our school. There are many prizes to be won including a super dooper scooter, picnic hamper and sooo many colourful hampers full of treats for all the family. Tickets are and are available from the school office every day and are priced at £3 per strip or 2 strips for £5.
