Dear Parents and Carers,
Part 1 Broadford News
Year 5 Residential - Mersea Island
This week our year 5 pupils braved all of the activities at Mersea Island. They were very lucky with the weather and they enjoyed blue skies and shining sun whilst there. We know that some of you faced your fears during your time in Mersea but fear is nothing but an obstacle that stands in the way of progress. In overcoming your fears you all moved forward stronger and wiser and we are all very proud of you. A huge thank you to our amazing staff who encouraged and supported the pupils and kept them safe while they were away from their families. Congratulations to each and every one of you.
Thank you to the year 5 staff who stayed in school and organised activities and visits for the children who didn’t go to Mersea. What a fantastic week for year 5!
Summer Sun
The fantastic summer weather continues. I would like to ask all parents to ensure that children have sun protection applied before they arrive at school. . It is also recommended that children bring caps/hats into school to wear during outdoor times. We will ensure that pupils have access to plenty of water throughout the day to keep them fully hydrated. Thank you for your support and co-operation in this matter.
The Colour Run - Thursday 17th July
We’re thrilled to announce that Broadford Primary will be hosting a Colour Run on Thursday 17th July. This is a fun, vibrant event designed to celebrate our pupils’ attendance and promote fitness, school spirit, and plenty of smiles!
What is a Colour Run?
A Colour Run is a non-competitive event where children can walk, jog, or run through a course while being gently sprinkled with coloured powder at various stations. It’s all about fun and participation—there’s no racing or timing involved.
Is it safe?
Yes! The coloured powder is made from cornstarch and food-grade dyes. It’s non-toxic, biodegradable, and safe for skin and clothing. We’ll also be taking steps to protect pupils’ eyes, and volunteers will apply the powder with care.
How to Prepare:
Wear white: So the colours really pop!
Bring sunglasses: To help protect eyes.
Pack a towel or change of top: For a quick clean-up before heading home.
Permission Required
To ensure that all pupils can take part safely, we require a signed waiver from a parent or guardian. This confirms that you understand the nature of the event and grant permission for your child to participate.
Please complete and return the waiver by Monday, 7th July.
We’re really looking forward to this exciting event and can’t wait to see our pupils enjoying such a colourful day!
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Mrs. Stanley. We're here to ensure this is a safe and joyful experience for every child.
The colour run is free for all pupils. However, on the day we are running a lucky bucket competition to win a colour hamper full of activities and treats for the summer holidays. If your child would like to be in with a chance of winning their year group colour hamper please send in £1 to ensure that their name is included in the lucky bucket draw after the colour run!
