Fact Hunters: Romans & boxers

This week we have had a tremendous number of interesting facts being shared by the children. Congratulations to the following children who have amazed us with their ability to hunt out interesting snippets of information:

Joshua Ore
Did you know that the famous boxer, Muhammad Ali, was born Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. on January 17, 1942. He changed his name in 1964 after joining Nation of Islam.His Nicknames included: The Greatest, The Champ, The Louisville Lip or just ‘Ali’.

Bayleigh Pearson
Were you aware that geocaching is a term – coined in 2000 – that describes the enthusiast hobby of locating a treasure somewhere in the world with the help of a GPS-enabled device and GPS coordinates that are listed online?

Yemi Adedipe
Did you know that a Red Giant is a very large star of high luminosity and low surface temperature. Red giants are thought to be in a late stage of evolution when no hydrogen remains in the core to fuel nuclear fusion.

Jacob Owsley
Strangely the Romans used to whip themselves with stinging nettles. This was done to increase blood circulation and keep them warm.
