Welcome Back!

Happy New Year to you all. I hope that you have had an enjoyable break and plenty of time to rest and celebrate with your friends and family. This week in the Recorder we have three stories about our school which are great at refocusing our minds after a two week holiday. Firstly, most importantly, we are committed to raising the standards of education so that all of our pupils – whatever their background and circumstance – are equipped to succeed in the next stage of their education. To have the confirmation before Christmas that we were ranked in the top 100 schools for the third year running was fantastic… but we have another 510 pupils for whom we have to achieve the same. The recognition is great but now we need to get back to turning up everyday, doing our best in every lesson and being kind and polite to everyone we meet.

Also in the paper are the Team Broadford volunteers who will be leading the #wearekind campaign. This will help continue putting Broadford at the heart of the community and showcasing for pupils how we value and push their personal development as well as the academic. Finally we have the individual recognition of Teddy Pilcher. We might be a school of 510 pupils – soon to grow even bigger – but we know all of our children by name. We celebrate their successes and want to inspire them to go on to much bigger and brighter futures. 2016 is a year full of promise for Broadford, massive investment from Havering to further develop the school, new high quality teachers to improve teaching and learning and the chance to work in partnership with our families, local schools and community. This week sees the return of the very successful Broadford University courses for pupils in Year 2-6. A whole range of trips and experiences have been added to the diary and our staff are raring to go… so let’s get to work!
