Newsletter - Friday 11th May, 2018

Headteacher: Mrs L Nicholls

Dear Parents and Carers,

Diary Dates
On Monday Aspen class are visiting Central park for a lunch picnic and then going to the farm at Mead. Some pupils will be visiting Drapers’ Academy after school for the more able Science club.
On Tuesday morning, Cathy Forrester our school nurse will be in school for her drop in sessions. Please visit the office if there is anything that you would like to discuss with her. In the afternoon it is Apple’s class turn to enjoy a picnic at the park and visit the farm at Mead.
On Wednesday pupils in year 3&4 will be taking part in a football tournament at St Ursula’s.
Year 1 will be enjoying their usual Forest schools session on Thursday afternoon.
We end the week with a year 5 cycling day with our instructor Phil Mylea and year 6 are celebrating the end of their assessment with a visit to the Olympic park at Stratford.

Royal Wedding Celebrations - Friday 18th May
As you are all aware Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are getting married on Saturday 19th May at Windsor Castle. We are celebrating in school by wearing wedding headwear for the day. Veils, top hats, tiaras, bowler hats & fascinators the bigger and brighter the better! It doesn't matter if they are home made or handed down from grandparents, we are looking forward to seeing all the pupils Royal wedding ready.

Swap Shop - Thursday 24th May 3.00 - 4.00 pm
On Thursday 24th May 2018, we will be holding our first children’s clothing swap shop. A swap shop is a great way to help families support each other, whilst emptying your wardrobe of those unwanted items. Often children grow out of their clothes so quickly, that many parents/carers are left with perfectly good clothes with plenty of wear still in them.
If you have clothes to donate, then we will gratefully receive them from Monday 30th April. To help with the organisation we would appreciate it if clean clothes can be donated in bags, labelled with gender and size.
For hygiene reasons we are unable to accept stained or damaged clothes or underwear/swimwear.
Any clothes which we have left after the event will be donated to a local charity shop. Thank you for your continued support.

School uniform
Please see message I have been asked to pass on to you from Premier schoolwear:
‘Sadly I ask again if you can inform your parents that the Trade Counter will be closed this Saturday 12th May
This is because of a staffing shortage
If any of you know of any 16/18 yr olds looking for part time work, ask them to drop their cv’s over please.’

We are once again collecting a lot of clothing in lost property which we are unable to return as the items are not named. Please ensure that all your child’s clothes are marked clearly with their name-this will ensure you get it back.

Havering Catering Services
Week beginning Monday 14th May is week 2 on the Havering catering services menu. All meals are served with unlimited salad and vegetables and cost £2.20.

KS1 Census Day for School Dinners
This is to inform you that all KS1 and Reception pupils will be given a school dinner on Thursday 17th May. There isn’t any charge for this - due to Universal Free School Meals. Pupils can still be packed lunch on the day, but they will also get the free lunch too. The impact is to ensure that our census numbers retain the funding that goes towards the school meals cost.
