Birch class hosted a Sip for Stroke coffee morning on Friday as part of our support for this worthy cause. Pupils and staff (even Miss Cook's Nan) had been busy baking all week to prepare the delicious treats for the event.
Sip for Stroke coffee mornings are a great way for friends to catch up over a cuppa and a piece of cake. They are also a valuable opportunity for those who have suffered the effects of a stroke to talk about what has happened to them.
Well done for all the organisation Year 4... it looks like you raised over £100!
Maths
"We had to calculate the ingredients that we needed. The recipe's only gave us the amounts for a small number of cakes. Our ratio skills helped us to multiply up the measurements to make over 80 cupcakes!
Leo Mbata
"Our mental calculations had to be quick when we worked out the change. I was trying to work out the answers quicker than Deborah."
Natalie Towner
"To know how much profit we had made, we had to total up all of our costs: printing, ingredients and decorations. Then we subtracted this from the amount taken. We raised over £100!"
