Football Match vs Mead

On Monday, our Y56 Boys Football teams travelled to Mead Primary for a double fixture. After a narrow defeat against Hilldene they boys were very keen to bounce back with a strong performance. Mr Portway and a good number of parents and family members were there too, cheering them on.

In the first half both sides started brightly - despite the gloomy conditions - and the play zipped from one of the pitch to the other. Despite a strong showing from Ben and Jack in midfield, we were unable to press home the advantage and that session finished as a 2-2 draw.

When the second game got underway, Leo, Attim, Mason and Kynan all showed their stamina as they maintained a great level of pressure. Mason was sliding in from all angles in a bid to break down the Mead attacks, while at the other end Kynan persistently tormented the Mead keeper.

Unfortunately - although we had more of the ball - the Mead breaks proved to be more incisive and they edged ahead by two goals. Mr Portway was very pleased with the performance though.

'It was great to see that the boys did not let their heads drop when the goals went in. They had kept their shape and pressed well when they lost the ball. Attim was tireless in his quest to win the ball back and all of them worked well as a team'
