Cycling Awareness Day: Year 1 & Year 2

Year 1 & Year 2 pupils had a fantastic day on their bikes & scooters. Their Cycling Awareness Day gave the pupils a chance to develop their skills, balance and awareness of others. This leads ultimately to the Bikeability training in Year 5 and the chance to go cycling at the Olympic Park and Redbridge Cycle Centre.

Did you know that as little as 15 minutes of activity a day can cut in half a child's risk of becoming obese?

We believe that by promoting cycling in school we will be able to help pupils and families kick-start a new exercise routine, and ultimately decrease busy traffic on school roads.

CAD also helps pupils to begin thinking about bike maintenance. It is vital to ensure that your bike is in good working order: check the tyres, lights etc before you embark.

Our pupils also learnt about how important it is to plan your route - so that you kno exactly where you are going - this way you can familiarise yourself with road junctions and other things that you need to be aware of along the way.
