Our Year 3 pupils have been developing their cave painting skills. In their history lessons they have learnt that some are as old as 40,000 years!
The exact purpose cave paintings is not known but evidence suggests that they may have been a way of communicating with others.
We were amazed to find out that the paintings are remarkably similar around the world. How could they have known what each other were drawing?

The pupils also discovered that animals were the most common subjects. Humans mainly appear as images of hands, mostly hand stencils made by blowing pigment on a hand held to the wall.
