Weekly Newsletter - Friday 27th September, 2024

Headteacher: Mrs L Nicholls
Dear Parents and Carers,

Part 1 Broadford News

End of School Day

We have over 700 pupils to dismiss at the end of each school day and we must ensure that this is completed in a safe and timely manner. Therefore I am asking all parents to support us in this task. Please ensure that your child is collected promptly at 3.15 pm from their classroom door. After collecting pupils please exit the school site via the gates on Faringdon Avenue. We respectfully ask that parents do not enter the school building at the end of the school day. Staff are escorting pupils to after school clubs and Essex After Schools and we cannot have parent visitors in the building at this time as it may interfere with this procedure. If you need to visit the office for any reason please do so via the office doors at the front of the building.
We very much appreciate your support and understanding in this matter.

Parentpay

We would like to remind all parents to ensure that you have completed registration on Parentpay. You do not need to pay for school dinners but need to be registered for trips, visits,  and to ensure that you receive school communication. If you do not have your login details please see a member of the office staff and they will be able to assist you with this.

Parents Evening - Tuesday 22nd and Wednesday 23rd October
We are looking forward to welcoming all parents on Tuesday 22nd & Wednesday 23rd October for parent consultation meetings. You will have the opportunity to meet your child’s new class teacher and find out how they have settled so far this year. The teachers will also explain the expectations for the end of the year for your child.

Our year 6 prefects will also be on hand to show you to the classrooms and will be asking parents to complete our annual parent survey.

Please complete the attached google form by the end of the school day on Friday 4th October. You will receive your appointment on Friday 11th October.

Book Fair

Thank you so much to everyone who supported us by purchasing books at last week’s Book Fair. Together, your purchases enabled us to buy a large selection of lovely new books for our school library! These new books will be added to our library collection for children to borrow. We have lots of very excited children who cannot wait to start reading them.

IMPORTANT & URGENT MESSAGE – Please help us to provide the very best education to your children.

This year all primary aged children are eligible to receive free school meals.

However because all of the children can now get a free school meal, many people do not realise that if they are eligible and register for free school meals our school receives additional funding which enables us to provide essential learning resources, inspiring experiences and great facilities for our children. Please help us by registering now if you are eligible. If you don’t register the funding we could have to support your children will be lost.

Additionally if your child is eligible for free school meals you will also receive:

  • A voucher for each child, once per year, to assist with the cost of school uniform (redeemable via Khalsa Schoolwear)

  • Additional financial support for food during school holidays to help you feed your family (the Havering Cost of Living hub)

  • Access for your children to fun activities clubs during school holiday where they receive a hot, nutritious meal (the Holiday Activities and Food Programme HAF)

  • Assistance with contributions towards school trips and residential visits

Some children / families are put off because they think that Free School Meals status means that they have to eat the school lunches. This is not true!
If you prefer to bring a packed lunch, that is absolutely fine. The school dinners will be there for you should you want them… but they are not compulsory.
If your child is eligible for free school meals and you have not yet registered, please register right NOW –  you will be helping us and we can help you!

Who is eligible? If you are in receipt of any of the following benefits your child may be eligible for free school meals.

* Income support

* Income based Jobseekers Allowance

* Income related Employment Support Allowance

* Guaranteed Element of State Pension Credit

* Child Tax Credit (but not Working Tax Credit) and have an annual income of less than £16,190

* Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

* Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit

* Universal Credit (your household income must be less than £7,400 a year after tax and not including any benefits you receive)

If you believe you may be eligible please click on the link below and complete the application form

https://www.havering.gov.uk/info/20006/schools_and_education/431/school_support

We are happy to help you apply if you are unsure of your eligibility - please contact Mrs Gibson in the school office.
Please do this today! It is very important for us to have all of our eligible families registered ASAP!
