Bikes All Marked Up

Today we had our visit from the Safer Transport Team. PCSOs Mo & Bill, working alongside PCs Sally & Rodger, marked up all the bikes bought in by our pupils. By the end of the session over 40 bikes had been marked.

By registering their bikes, our pupils will be helping the police and retailers identify and verify the legitimate owner of bikes that have been stolen or are being resold. Security marking your bike deters potential thieves as your bike can be easily traced if it is stolen.

Did you know that there are 32 Safer Transport Teams dedicated to policing each of London's boroughs providing a highly visible policing presence tackling crime on the transport network and engaging with the travelling public. The teams patrol on buses and at transport interchange points eg bus stations within their borough focusing on local problems. The teams also patrol on London's roads to tackle issues such as cycle theft, responding to road traffic incidents and the safe movement of traffic.
