Fact Hunters: Birds, cars and whales

Did you know that the Whistling Swan has approximately 25,000 feathers? It is much larger than the Bee Hummingbird which is the world’s smallest bird. The smallest owl in the world is the Elf Owl.

The world’s fastest production car is the SSC Ultimate Aero. In credibly it can hit a top speed of 257mph and can go from 0-60 in just 2.7 secs. Just behind it is the Bugatti Veyron. It is faster at reaching 60mph, but only has a top speed of 253mph.

It is an invisible process where water is evaporating from the leaf surfaces. An acre of corn gives off about 11,400-15,100 litres of water each day, and a large oak tree can transpire 151,000 litres per year.
