Fact Hunters: Centipedes, rodents & termites!

Incredibly rodents' incisors grow continuously throughout their lives, a process known as aradicular. Unlike humans, rodents continually produce enamel and must wear down their teeth by gnawing on various materials.

Amazingly in termite colonies, there is one king and queen pair which develop from fully winged adults. The queen develops an enlarged abdomen to accomodate her increased egg-laying capacity. She may lay millions of eggs annually.

Did you know that centipedes can be poisonous? Centipedes use structures called gnathosomes or gnathopods to inject venom into their prey. These are paired pincer-like appendages in front of the legs. The “bite” is actually a pinch.
