As part of the 'Workplace Skills' program - run by Miss Morris - our pupils have been learning about how their literacy and numeracy skills are vital if you want to work as a carer for Dementia patients. Helping them to calculate household bills, scheduling appointments, reading medical reports and being able to explain things clearly: these are all skills you would need.
Holding a 'Dementia Friends' workshop for pupils, and an information session for parents in addition to the visits from the dementia nurse have really helped to raise awareness of the condition amongst pupils.
