Old Tom Pictures

This week we had a visit from an Australian author and illustrator - Leigh Hobbs. He spent time with the children showing them how he draws his main character 'Old Tom'.

Leigh had some very good tips for the children...

  • every drawing is different, be proud of what you have done
  • don't worry about mistakes, you can always try again
  • some of the best ideas - the dots for fleas around Old Tom's head - come about by accident
During his workshop the children completed their version of the character. Didn't they do well!

You can see from the drawings that they listened carefully to the instructions, imitated his style well and observed the original pictures carefully.
