Following
the success of our Superhero food drive our Harvest food drive will take place
on Friday 17th October. During our last food drive, we collected over 800 items of food,
weighing in at 361.4kg. Which is amazing!
Of
course we want this food drive to be bigger and better. Our theme this week is
from the garden or on the farm. We want everyone to wear their wellies to
school in support of our local Trussell Foodbank.
Please
bring in an item of food that comes from the garden or from the farm. Have a
look at the list below;
Fruit juice (carton)
Soup
Pasta sauces
Tomatoes (tinned)
Instant mash potato
Tinned meat
Tinned fish
Tinned fruit
Tinned vegetables
Jam
Last
year Harvest Festival collections from various organisations totalled over 2.9
tonnes of much needed food. Throughout the year, Harold Hill foodbank was
able to provide food to 1,514 adults and 1,166 children, as well as providing
food to other local organisations like local homeless projects and the Women’s
Refuge. The demands on the foodbank are as strong as ever and this is
where we need your help.
Of course, there will be a prize for the class that brings in the most items of food!
