On Tuesday evening, 15 children from from years 3,4 and 5 took part in a primary dance festival at St.Edward's secondary school. Ten Havering primary schools took part in the annual event and all entrants were all asked to create a dance that was themed around this years Olympics. Our chosen dance was set to Shakira's song; 'Waka Waka (This time for Africa)', as we felt it reflected London's cultural diversity.
After our arrival we squeezed in some last minute practising to ensure we remembered all our moves and the children settled down to watch the first half of the show. It was then time for our own performance so feeling slightly nervous the children, led by Miss McGuinness, were led to the stage. As soon as the music started the nerves disappeared and the children delivered a fantastic performance involving stomping, twisting and some expert shimmying from Kirsty White. Their timing was perfect and the children thoroughly enjoyed their performance, as did the audience.
