"The Science ambassadors explained everything very clearly. They were amazing" Connor Nicolson aged 10.
One of the most poplar stands was the Soda Volcano. A mixture of sand and bicarbonate of soda were formed into a peak. The pupils then set light to the top of the volcano. While it burned carbon was produced, forming a very impressive eruption. Next to this eye catching chemistry demonstration was the Fizzy Drinks Fountain. Have you every wondered which fizzy drink is actually the fizziest? Well the Royal Liberty travelling scientists have got an activity that demonstrates it. Just remove the top from the drink and add a some Polos. Stand well back as a stream of bubbles will begin to appear. The higher the bubble fountain, the greater the amount of CO2 in the drink.
"It was great watching the gas erupt from the bottle of drink. I didn't realise that Chemistry could be so exciting!" Toheeb Gbadamosi aged 10
Supported by their teachers, the secondary pupils proved to be excellent facilitators.
"This roadshow has been great. We are able to meet with younger pupils and get them excited by Science. In addition, our students get to apply their knowledge." Mr Hutchins Royal Liberty Teacher.
Without a doubt the Broadford pupils looked the part, all kitted out with safety goggles. The overwhelmingly positive feedback will ensure that Science is clearly back in focus over the next few weeks.
"We have been very lucky to have received such fantastic support from our partner Secondary Schools. This Roadshow really captured the children's interest and has shown our Year 5 pupils that Science is all around us. The Royal Liberty pupils were excellent ambassadors and should be congratulated on how well they represented their school" Mr Drakes Broadford Headteacher
