Fact Hunters: Rivers, bikes and skin!

If you look at the Thames, it may appear dirty… but it isn’t. Many creatures live in and on the water: gulls, swans, pike, trout, flounder fish, sea horses, crayfish and even crabs!

Have you ever wondered why the room keeps spinning after you have stopped moving? In the inner ear, the balance system consists of three semicircular canals that contain fluid and “sensors” that detect rotational movement of the head. You might stop moving, but the liquid keeps sloshing around, telling your brain you are still spinning!
