STARS Gold Award 2016!

Pupils from Broadford & Mead Primary have been recognised at the STARS Conference 2016 as both schools have achieved Gold Star status. The award required the pupil led teams complete 40 different travel activities over a three year period! In addition the teams from Harold Hill have been able to demonstrate a 6% shift away from car use, with at least 90% of pupils travelling via non-car modes!

As a consequence of this program we have seen a high level of participation and engagement in active travel across the whole school community
Malcolm Drakes - Executive Headteacher

We believe in making active, healthy travel fun. Our families are almost all within 800m of the school gates, so cutting congestion, pollution and inactivity is very achievable. This event has helped to inspire our pupils to think big for the year ahead so that they can have even greater impact!
Amelia Chau - Y6 Teacher & STARS Lead

I was so proud to hear that each year STARS schools replace 13 million miles’ worth of car journeys with walking, cycling and scooting! Now I want to help Broadford and Mead children to get this to 14,000,000.
Suada Cacaj - aged 10 Y6
