Bling My Bike: the winners!

Today, the front of the school became quite spooky as dozens of children entered the Halloween 'Bling My Bike' competition by cycling and scooting into school.

The event today just proved that children at Broadford care about making a difference to sustainable and environmentally-friendly travel. As a TfL STARs school, we are committed to reducing the numbers of pupils travelling to school by car. Each year, STARS schools replace 13 million miles’ worth of car journeys with walking, cycling and scooting and we increased our impact today as a significantly higher proportion of Broadford pupils cycled and scooted in today compared to yesterday- 36% more in fact!

"Today was an impressive turn-out but I know next time that we can increase bike and scooter use by over 45%!"
Harry Vincent, Year 6 JTA

"Today is proof that Broadford pupils genuinely care about safe and sustainable travel methods. It is great that we can reduce the level of car usage as well as keep our pupils healthy, fit and excited about travelling to school by bicycle and scooter."
Miss Chau

The JTAs had a difficult job of deciding their favourite decorated bikes and scooters and decided that they would award every entrant with a sweet or lollipop taped to their entry. The effort put in from every child was impressive and our Travel Ambassadors (Suada, Lebohang, Harry and Elizabeth) finally chose their favourites to receive prizes.

Congratulations to the children below who were chosen by the Broadford Junior Travel Ambassadors:
Tyler Kelly (Mulberry)
Grace Leadbitter (Hazel)
Evie Cottam (Sequoia)
Martina Rensch (Ash)
William Ilott (Elm)
Jackie Sloan (Redwood)
