Kumon Mathematics

Congratulations to our Kumon pupils who have managed to achieve the next level on the programme.

At Broadford we place great importance on children understanding how a calculation works and therefore their ability to select the most efficient approach to solve a problem. This is achieved through individualised instruction and the use of traditional methods, enabling our pupils to develop and maximise their ability.

What is Kumon?
The Kumon Maths Programme progresses from the very basics of counting to calculus and beyond, all without the use of a calculator.

Each of our pupils begins at a comfortable level for them. Their individual starting point, along with their expected projection rate, is established with an assessment. Once a firm foundation and good study skills have been developed, pupils move onto more challenging work as they grow their independent learning skills.

I love how it has enabled Adam to develop his maths understanding at his own pace. It has also helped me to challenge him at home, where I was sometimes stuck for ways to keep him engaged with his maths.

How does it work?
Through daily study of this worksheet-based programme, our pupils develop an affinity for mental maths and the confidence to apply a range of skills when faced with a new challenge. Each level of the maths programme builds incrementally on the skills developed in the previous level, ensuring a solid understanding and the ability to put learning into practice.
