We're In The Paper: Parents Stand Up Against Smoking

We were encouraged to see our parents taking a proactive interest in promoting healthier lifestyles this week. Currently schools are not empowered to challenge members of the public, or parents, who are smoking on the pavement directly outside the entrance to the school. However our parents have expressed a desire to raise this as an issue with Government and secure a change to the law.

There will be a lot of work to do if they are to get their point debated in Parliament. They will need 100,000 signatures registered in order for there to be a chance of it becoming a law. Alternatively parents who feel the same could contact their local MP to raise it as an issue.

However they have made a good start with some TV coverage and a feature in this week's Romford Recorder.
