Year 5&6 Road Safety Workshop

Today our Year 5&6 pupils benefitted from an excellent theatre workshop called 'Now You See Me; Now You Don't'

The production is the story of an 11 year old boy called Aaron who is knocked down by a car coming home from school.

The play focused on encouraging our older pupils to prepare themselves for secondary school and understand that they have increasing control over their own and other people's safety.

By taking part in the session today we hope that our pupils will have:
  • Increased their knowledge about key road safety messages (the importance of being seen, making eye contact, being focussed)
  • Improved their understanding of the different factors that converge in causing an ‘accident’
  • Improved young people’s preparation for secondary school and the longer journeys that face them as they get older.
  • Become more aware of the need to be alert to other people’s mistakes.
Developed with and for young people by Camden Public Safety Team and Immediate Theatre. Young people were involved throughout the creative process. Supported by Transport for London.

"I can't believe what happened to Aaron... I won't make that mistake when I cross the road!" Hadoram - Year 6

"The ending was amazing. I didn't expect it to finish like that" Alfie - Year 6
