Havering is one of just two local authorities in England where all primary schools met the new Government benchmarks in the three Rs.
Department for Education figures revealed that 1,310 schools fell short of the standards in the core subjects English and maths at Key Stage 2 (sat by pupils aged 11). But schools in Havering, as well as in Hammersmith & Fulham, were the best performing with all pupils exceeding the standards.
Havering Cllr Paul Rochford, Cabinet member for Children and Learning, said: “We are extremely proud that Havering was one of just two authorities in England where every school met the Government's tough new standard for English and maths.
“Education is one of our highest priorities and that is shown year on year as exam results continue to improve across our schools.”
